How Hive Points work Points earned through scanning, listing, and community contribution are free and count toward leaderboard ranking. Purchased points give the same entry rights but don't contribute to leaderboard totals — competition odds remain identical either way.

Ticket price logic Ticket prices are calibrated against the points cost. Rough guide: 50 pts ≈ £0.49 ticket. Buying tickets is slightly more expensive per entry than earning points — but convenient if you don't want to scan. Same slot count either way.

Questions people actually ask.

Can I win without spending any money?
Yes, and that's the whole point of the app-based route. Every scan, listing, and community contribution earns points. Most users who win have only ever entered via earned points. The paid route is a convenience option, not a requirement.

Do paid tickets have better odds than points entries?
No. One entry equals one slot regardless of how you paid. When the slots fill and the draw happens, every entry has exactly the same chance. We publish the full competition rules so you can verify.

What happens if a competition doesn't fill?
Every competition has a minimum-entries threshold. If it doesn't hit that by the deadline, all entries are automatically refunded — points back to your Hive balance, money back to your card — and the competition is cancelled without a draw.

Why do I need to answer a skill question?
UK gambling law distinguishes between lotteries (illegal without a licence) and skill-based competitions (legal). A genuine skill element makes these prize draws rather than lotteries. The questions aren't designed to stump you — typically reselling-knowledge anyone in the community could answer.

Are points purchases refundable?
Under UK consumer law you have 14 days to cancel a digital purchase unless you've "consumed" it by using the points. Unused points can be refunded within that window — contact support. Used points are non-refundable.

How are winners paid out?
Digital prizes (gift cards, PayPal cash) sent within 24 hours of the live draw to the email on your account. Physical prizes (consoles, gear) dispatched via Royal Mail tracked within 3 working days. Shipping free, UK and international.

Who can enter?
Anyone 18 or over, in regions where prize competitions are legal (full list on the rules page). Entry void where prohibited.
