Profit Prophet is an AI-powered mobile app built for resellers, thrifters, and flippers. Snap a photo of any item, scan its barcode, or paste a marketplace URL, and Profit Prophet identifies the product, pulls live sold-listing data from eBay, compares prices across Vinted, Depop, Facebook Marketplace and Gumtree, and delivers an instant valuation plus a suggested buy target. Items save to inventory with photo tags, bundle grouping, and one-tap eBay listing. Built by a solo UK developer and reseller, the app is used in 9+ countries and has processed over 10,000 scans for its early community.
Reselling used to mean hours of research before you'd know what something was worth. Profit Prophet changes that. The app uses a proprietary AI pipeline combining Google Cloud Vision OCR, Gemini visual identification, and live eBay sold-listing data to give resellers an instant, accurate valuation of any item — whether they're at a car boot, thrifting in a charity shop, or browsing Facebook Marketplace from the sofa. A floating "Scan Anywhere" overlay (Android) even lets users scan listings inside other apps without switching away.
Beyond valuation, Profit Prophet is a full reseller OS: inventory management with bundle grouping and tag folders, one-tap eBay listing creation, a social layer (Hive Mind) where resellers compete on a public leaderboard, and a cosmetics shop powered by an in-app points economy. The app launched in 2024, is built in Flutter with a FastAPI backend hosted on Google Cloud Run, and is used daily by resellers across the UK, US, Australia, and beyond. It's free to try, with Pro Lite and Pro tiers for power users. Built and maintained solo by Adam Smith, a UK-based reseller and landscaper.
Adam Smith is a UK-based landscaper and reseller who started building Profit Prophet after getting sick of cross-referencing eBay sold listings on his phone between jobs. What began as a weekend side project turned into a full reseller OS, now used daily by a community of flippers across the UK, US, and Australia. Adam builds the app solo, in public, and directly supports users via Discord.
