Prize Competition Rules

Terms governing prize competitions within the Profit Prophet app

1. The Promoter

Prize competitions are operated by Profit Prophet ("the Promoter"), contactable at profitprophetapp@gmail.com.

2. Eligibility

• Open to users aged 18 or over who have a registered Profit Prophet account.
• Open to residents of the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, and Australia. Other countries may be eligible at the Promoter's discretion.
• Employees of Profit Prophet and their immediate families are not eligible.
• Users must have opted into the Hive Mind community feature to participate.

3. How to Enter

Entry to each prize competition requires:

1. Hive Mind Points — Each competition has a stated entry cost in points. Points are deducted at the time of entry.
2. A skill-based question — Entrants must correctly answer a knowledge question related to reselling, product identification, or market awareness. Only correct answers result in a valid entry.

4. Free Entry Route

Points required for entry can be earned entirely through free app usage. The following actions earn points at no cost:

• Daily login bonus (5 points/day)
• Adding scanned items to inventory (3 points each)
• Confirming a sale (10 points)
• Correcting a misidentification (8 points)
• Linking a barcode (6 points)
• Confirming or correcting prices (3-6 points)
• Submitting community events (6 points)

All users, including those on the free tier, can earn sufficient points to enter competitions without spending any money.

5. Entry Limits

• Each competition states a maximum number of entries per user (typically 3).
• Each entry requires a separate points payment and a correct answer to the question.
• Multiple entries increase your chances proportionally but do not guarantee a win.

6. Winner Selection

Winners are selected by random draw from all valid entries (i.e., entries where the question was answered correctly and points were deducted). The draw is conducted automatically by the Profit Prophet system.

Each valid entry has an equal chance of being selected regardless of the entrant's subscription tier, points balance, or any other factor.

7. Competitions with Deadlines

• Some competitions have a time limit (displayed as a countdown in the app).
• If the minimum entry threshold is met before the deadline, the draw proceeds automatically.
• If the minimum entry threshold is not met by the deadline, the competition is cancelled and all entry points are refunded in full to each entrant.

8. Prizes

• Prizes are described in each competition listing. The Promoter reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value if the stated prize becomes unavailable.
• Physical prizes — Shipped to the winner's address. The winner must provide a valid delivery address within 14 days of being notified. Shipping is provided at the Promoter's expense to supported countries.
• Digital prizes — Delivered via code, key, or direct transfer within 7 days of the draw.
• In-app cosmetic prizes — Applied automatically to the winner's account.

9. Winner Notification

Winners are notified via the app and may be contacted by email. The winner's username (or "Anonymous" if no username is set) is displayed publicly on the competition results page and leaderboard.

If a winner does not respond or provide required delivery details within 14 days, the Promoter reserves the right to select an alternative winner.

10. Points and Refunds

• Points spent on entries are non-refundable except where a competition is cancelled (see section 7).
• Incorrect answers do not deduct points — only successful entries cost points.
• In the event of a technical error resulting in points being deducted without a valid entry, the Promoter will refund the affected points.

11. Anti-Abuse

The Promoter reserves the right to disqualify entries and ban users who:

• Create multiple accounts to gain additional entries
• Use automated tools or scripts to enter competitions
• Exploit bugs or vulnerabilities in the points or entry system
• Engage in any behaviour intended to manipulate competition outcomes

12. Data and Privacy

Entry data (username, entry count, answer) is stored securely in our database. Winner usernames are displayed publicly. Physical prize winners must provide a delivery address which is used solely for shipping and then deleted. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

13. Liability

The Promoter accepts no responsibility for entries lost, delayed, or corrupted due to technical failures. The Promoter's total liability in connection with any competition shall not exceed the retail value of the prize.

14. Governing Law

These rules are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.

15. Amendments

The Promoter reserves the right to amend these rules at any time. Material changes will be communicated via the app. Continued participation constitutes acceptance of any amendments.
